General Receiving, Missing, or Past Year 1099 FAQs
This page provides answers to general questions about 1099s from NCTracks, including receiving 1099s, missing 1099s, and 1099s from previous years.
Note that if your “Pay To address is not correct on your provider record, it will affect the delivery of your 1099. You will need to submit a Manage Change Request in the secure provider portal to update your address. Providers are encouraged to update the “Pay To address on their provider record to correctly indicate where paper payments and financial data should be sent in the future.

1. Will I receive a 1099 from NCTracks?
NCTracks will send a 1099 if all payments to NPI(s) listed under a given tax ID add up to $600.00 or more. If you have multiple NPIs you will only receive one 1099 per Tax ID per payer (DHB/DPH).
-
2. What will be reflected on my 1099?
The income received during the calendar year is reported to the Tax ID number listed on the providers record that received payment.
-
3. When will I receive my 1099?
The 2020 1099's will be mailed on or before Jan. 15, 2021. Due to postal service volume, you should allow 7 to 10 business days to receive your 1099. The 1099 will be sent to the ‘Pay To’ location currently on file. Please note that if you have multiple locations, the address used in the mailing of your 1099 will be of the latest active NPI.
-
4. Is there any circumstance in which I would receive more than one 1099?
Yes. You will receive one 1099 per Tax ID per payer (DHB/DPH). For example, if you have one EIN but have been paid more than $600.00 for both DHB and DPH, then you will receive two 1099s.
-
5. I am an LME – will I receive a 1099?
No. Since LME’s are local government agencies, neither they nor their rendering providers would receive a 1099.
-
6. I received a 1099 for my rendering NPI. What do I do?
Claims would have been submitted and paid to this NPI/Tax ID combination for a 1099 to generate. This is not a correctable item for 2016 as the calendar year has passed. Please contact your tax advisor.
For 1099s where payments have been made to a provider record listed as an Individual (Attending, Owner, etc) rather than an Organization (Group), and the Organization needs to claim the income, a nominee/middleman return is to be filed. Generally, if you receive a Form 1099 for amounts that actually belong to another, you are considered a nominee recipient. You must file a Form 1099 with the IRS (the same type of Form 1099 you received) for each of the others, showing the amounts allocable to each if applicable. You must also furnish a Form 1099 to each of the others. File the new Form 1099 with Form 1096 with the Internal Revenue Service Center for your area. On each new Form 1099, list yourself as the “payer” and the other as the “recipient.” On Form 1096, list yourself as the “Filer.” A spouse is not required to file a nominee return to show amounts owned by the other spouse. The nominee, not the original payer, is responsible for filing the subsequent Forms 1099 to show the amount allocable to others. See the IRS website for more information about Nominee/middleman returns under "A. Who Must File."
