Update to Fingerprinting Timeline Requirement

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated fingerprinting regulations to include a revised timeline. Individuals who require fingerprinting* need only update their fingerprints in NCTracks every five years instead of every six months, as currently required.

*Fingerprinting is required for providers in certain categories, or any person with a 5% or greater direct or indirect ownership interest in that provider. To determine the requirements for your provider type, please reference the Provider Permission Matrix (PPM) located under Quick Links on the Provider Enrollment page.

If fingerprinting is required and the individual has submitted a set of fingerprints to NCTracks within the past five years (as an owner on a separate, newly enrolling provider), they are not required to submit a new set of fingerprints.
