Credentialing Updates from the North Carolina Medical Board

NCTracks began receiving monthly files from the North Carolina Medical Board for license renewals for Physicians (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Physician Assistant (PA), and Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA) providers on August 1, 2016. The files received will be used during the credentialing processes and to update provider records.

• Providers will no longer need to update their MD, DO, PA, and AA license data. The expiration date will be updated as long as the license number on the provider's record is correct (and matches the license number listed with the North Carolina Medical Board).

• When completing an initial application, providers will be required to enter a valid license number in order to proceed through the application and to allow the data to be automatically updated in the future.

With this update, a modification was made to the Notification for Re-certification Letter (PM51900-R5319) which is sent to providers through the Message Center Inbox 45 days before the expiration date, has been updated to include the following note:

NOTE: If this notification is for a NC Medical Board license and the License Number on the letter is correct or for a CLIA certification and the Certification Number on the letter is correct, you do not have to update anything; NCTracks will update this license/certification upon receipt from the NC Medical Board/CLIA. Please ensure your license has been updated with the license/certification agency.

To be notified of these types of changes and other NCTracks communications including training opportunities, alerts and updates, providers can visit the Provider Communications page to join our mailing list.
