Update on Issue with Claims using the TJ modifier denying in error

This is an update regarding an issue that was identified on May 3 with claims submitted using the TJ modifier denying in error. The claims were failing Edit 2104 - PROVIDER TAXONOMY IS NOT ALLOWED TO BILL THE MODIFIER SUBMITTED. CORRECT AND RESUBMIT DENIED DETAIL IF NECESSARY. The disposition of that edit has been changed to pend the claims. Once the issue is resolved, the pended claims will recycle and be processed automatically. (This does not affect claims already denied for this edit.)

This issue is related to the implementation of the update to Billing Codes for Residential Treatment Services. (See link to announcement below.)

The technical team continues to actively work to resolve this issue. A further update will be posted when more information is available.
