How to Determine the Status of Pharmacy PAs Job Aid

A new Prior Approval Inquiry Job Aid is available on the NCTracks provider portal. The job aid provides step-by-step instructions to conduct inquiries on existing Prior Approvals (PAs) when the provider is listed as the submitting, billing and/or rendering provider. For example, the PA Inquiry function on the provider portal provides a mechanism for prescribing physicians to determine the status of requests for approval of drugs that require PA, such as high-dose opioids.

The Prior Approval Inquiry Job Aid is located under the heading “Prior Approval” on the Provider User Guides and Training page of the NCTracks provider portal.

Use of the PA Inquiry function requires access to the secure NCTracks provider portal. Access to the secure provider portal requires a login from North Carolina Identity (NCID) Services. Providers or staff who do not have an NCID to access the NCTracks secure provider portal should contact the Office Administrator for their NPI.
