Clarification re: DME and ICD-10
This is an update to information previously published regarding DME and ICD-10.
DME Claims with dates of service that span October 1 do NOT have to be split. (For example, diabetic testing supplies.) Providers should use the "From" date of service to determine which ICD code set to use in billing. Claims with a "From" date of service prior to October 1 should use ICD-9 diagnosis codes. Claims with a "From" date of service on or after October 1 should use ICD-10 diagnosis codes.
An "ICD-10 by Provider Type" fact sheet for DME providers has been posted to the ICD-10 webpage of the NCTracks Provider Portal.
